Dr. David Frawley
Dr. David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) is one the main Americans to bring Jyotish to the West. He has correlated Vedic Astrology with Ayurveda, done extensive research in Sanskrit texts, and been active reviving Vedic traditions worldwide.
Vamadeva is a student of Dr. BV Raman and has many awards in Jyotish. He was the first president of the American Council of Vedic Astrology (ACVA) 1993-2003. Hinduism Today often highlights his articles. He is closely connected to many ashrams and gurus in India.
Vamadeva is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award of the government of India (2015), for his educational work in Yoga, Ayurveda, Jyotish, Vedas and ancient history. He has doctor of letters degrees (D.Litt), from S-VYASA in Bangalore, the main Yoga university in India, and from Ram Manohar Lohia University, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. He is the director of the American Institute of Vedic Studies which offers online courses and resources in the Vedic sciences.
